T-rex: Hello, everyone. I am Tyrannosaurus rex, you can call me T-rex, I was 50 feet or 15 meters long, and I died out 64 million years ago. I had long sharp teeth, they protected me, so I used my long sharp teeth to eat other dinosaurs. Are you scared of me?

Apatosaurus: I am not scared of you!

T-rex: Oh! Oh, you are so big. Who are you?

Apatosaurus: I am Apatosaurus. I was 70 feet or 21 meters long, I died out 138 million years ago. I was longer and taller than most other dinosaurs, so my huge size protected myself, I was a gentleman, and I only ate plants and tree leaves.

Triceratops: I am also not sacred of you, T-rex.

T-rex: Oh, you look strange, so who are you?

Stegosaurus:I am Stegosaurus, I was 20 feet or 6 meters long, I died out 140 million years ago. I had spikes and bony plates, so I protected myself with spikes on my tail and large bony plates on my back. I had small teeth and ate only plants.

Triceratops:I am Triceratops, I was 30 feet or 9 meters long, I died out 64 million years ago. Did you see my horns? I protected myself with three sharp horns on my head. Like the Apatosaurus, I ate plants. I was smaller than T-rex but bigger than the Stegosaurus.

Apatosaurus Triceratops Stegosaurus:We are not sacred of you, T-rex!

All dinosaurs:Thank you!

Reflection:

Unit 5 Dinosaursis a really difficult unit for Class 2 Grade 7, the open class is the third lesson of this unit, I used much time and many ways to practice the dinosaurs’ name, but there are still a lot of students who can’t pronounce the name correctly and quickly, so the aim of this lesson is a little hard for them, that is to talk about the four dinosaurs in dialogues and passages. But after that, I think maybe I am too carefully in pushing them in details, and the big steps and activities are not suitable for them. So maybe I should make the steps into small ones so that I can give the students more chances to practice. Such as Step 3, maybe it’s Ok for other classes, but it’s too big for Class 2, I should change them into talk about dinosaurs one by one.
