Unit 5 Planets Part 3
Teaching Aim:
To learn more basic facts about eight planets.
To train the reading skill.
Teaching Important Points:
To read and get the main idea of the passage.
To know the way to learn by themselves.
Teaching Difficulty:
To learn more about the eight planets.
Teaching Procedures:
I.Warm up
Free Talk: 1.Do you want to live on other planets?
2. What is necessary for human to live on the planets?
( Cause the students are required to previewed in advance, they are hoped to present the key factors, such as water, air, oxygen, food and so on.)
II. Pre-reading
1. Every groups draw lots to choose the planet for further study.
2. Write a riddle about the planet drawn in groups.
3. Present the quirements:
a) Use two or three sentences to describe the planet’s size; the distance from the sun or the time it needs to orbit the sun.
b) Try to use comparative or superlative.
( This is a good chance for Ss to revise what they learnt. And we can also to cultivate them to be logic.)
4. Get the other students to guess.
III. Reading
1. Read individually and figure out the special feature of each planet.
(Encourage Ss to read by themselves and learn to find some key information.)
2. Read again and exchange their ideas in groups.
( Remind group leaders to let Ss express their opinion freely. Then discuss.)
3. Report the result.
Reflection:
1. In warm-up, be flexible to students answers so as to communicate better with Ss. And make the class effective.
2. Before Ss write a riddle, it’s better to set an example.
3. Practice groupwork more.
刘巧卫老师这堂关于星球的课,给人的感觉是耳目一新,抛弃了传统的英文为教英语而教英语的方法。这堂课最大的的特点是通过用英语的方式教科学,通过英文的方式让学生了解太阳系几大行星的特点。
这堂课最大的亮点是整堂课充分给予学生自我探讨的时间。从课前的准备预习,到通过编谜语的方式展示课前预习的效果,从小组合作概况几大星球的特点,到小组探讨文中出现的偏僻词语,都体现了学生自我学习及小组合作学习的主动性。
作为一个新班级,老师对小组的分配,及组长所被赋予的职责,从课堂的氛围可以看出老师的别具匠心。因为学生都为刚进初中的新生,小组氛围的讨论正在磨合期。相信经过长期的引导及训练,班级的小组能动性及其作用会发挥其更好的作用。
