Teaching Aim:
1. To learn the history of some inventions.
2. To develop students’ skills of listening, speaking and especially reading.Readingis the focus in this lesson.Readingskills include predicting, skimming, scanning and digesting.
3. To encourage students to practice, participate and co-operate in the classroom activities.
Teaching Approaches:
Communicative approach and computer-Assisted Instruction are to be used in the course of this lesson, and I will try my best to limit teacher talking time, increase students’ talking time. During this lesson, emphases are to be laid on:
(1) student- centered teaching
(2) task-based learning
(3) activity-based teaching (individual work, pair work, group work, class work)
Teaching Aids:
A multi-media computer system
They are for showing students some pictures, some visual files, some reading tasks.
Teaching Procedures:
Step 1: Warm-up – leading-in
Activity 1: Free talk (class work)
Today we are still going to learn unit 8, (Ss read the title together). And tell me what make the world smaller? Yes, inventions. Today we will not talk about the movies, the popcorns, not blue jeans. Let me show you, tell me what are they?
Encourage ss to speak out these names of the inventions and invite one ss to write them on the blackboard.
Look at the four inventions, who knows the story behind each invention? What questions will u ask when you want to know more about them? Encourage students to raise some questions, such as:
Who invented..?
Where were they invented?
When were they invented?
Why were they invented?
How were they invented?
Step 2:Pre-reading
Activity1: Look and guess (class work)
In this activity, Ss are required to look at the title/pictures and guess the meaning of what they will read.
Activity2 Brain-storming (class work)
In this activity, Ss are encouraged to think of as many words as possible to describe the picture/…
Goal: To develop Ss’ reading skill---predicting and present some new words in the passage such as …
(1)Show the picture of firework, let Ss guess the answer by looking at the picture. Encourage them to talk.
(2)Ss open their books. Read the firework part, first self-reading; then pair or group study, read together. Then invite students to read in class, then invite group to read.
(3)Check comprehension by judging true or false.
(4)Ss read together.
Step3;
Using the same step to deal with the inventions of calendar, airplane and chocolate, but first let them choose which invention they are interested. Choose the one they feel like the second.
Homework:
Ss study the rest invention after class. And write down questions and answer by themselves.
Then talk about the stories of inventions.
评课稿(章程):
王平老师教授的是新派英语第五册第八单元A Small World.的故事部分,关于2个发明背后的故事的阅读材料。具体要学习的是:日历,巧克力,飞机,烟火四个发明背后的故事;
从整体上来说,这堂课的教学思路很清晰,目标明确,从自学到对学以及最后的群学,学生都有很好的参与,积极性很高,发言踊跃,思路也很宽,英语口语表达能力,英语阅读理解能力也得到很大的锻炼提高。
首先, 在最开始的warm up部分,教师提出了一个”Which invention is the most important”(哪一个发明你认为最重要)的问题,让学生自己先思考,给出自己的看法,从而形成了自己的观点,然后把这些观点提出来和其他同学分享。
接着,教师让学生选择首先学习哪篇文章,尊重了学生的意愿,然后学生饶有兴趣地开始自行阅读文章,通过观察文章的插图让学生猜测文章的大意,并结合后来的阅读理解对前面的判断进行证实。学生通过独学,互相交换意见,并小组讨论难点,让学生对文章的大意通过自己的学习有了自己的理解和把握。在遇到生词的时候,也是自己先去思考怎么读,是什么意思。最后通过小组合作来解决这些问题。老师通过学生的自学,朗读,知道了哪些是学生的难点,并对难点及时进行了点拨和讲解,进一步加深了学生对文章的理解。
课堂的最后部分,教师有让学生读这篇文章和回答一些问题,来检测通过独学、对学、群学的效果,对了一些难点也做了点拨。
在剩下2个发明故事的学习阶段,由于学生已经通过第一个发明的学习思路有了一定认识,老师把学生分成A,B两大组,让A,B两组各学一个发明故事,然后互相用WH-问题提问,完全放手让学生自己独立学习了。
另外,本节课最大的亮点是:小组合作学习非常有层次,看得出学生的小组合作学习习惯是长期培养的结果。
“教师的教,是为了今后的不教”,本节课,老师通过一个发明故事的引导学习,让学生知道了怎样去通过插图理解故事内容,怎样用英语能提出who(谁), when(什么时候), where(在哪里), why(为什么), how(怎么)等问题。
当然,怎样让英语课绽放“生命课堂”的魅力,还需要进一步的探究和不断的努力。但是,我们相信,我们的学生英语水平在有生命力的课堂里,通过师生的共同努力,英语交际能力和用英语做事的能力将会有很大的提高。
