New Parade Book 5 Unit 4 Shopping Part 2
Teaching Aims:
1) Read the name of each shop fluently;
2) Learn the phrases about telling the way;
3) Give directions to places.
Teaching methods:
Task- based approach;
Individual, pair or group work to make every student work in class.
Learning strategy:
Learn to read the names of different shops;
Learn to tell the way to different places.
Teaching procedures:
I. Warm up
Introduce the family briefly. Focus on what they are talking about. Have the students work in groups to discuss what they are talking about. Before their discussion, circle two important things to help them.
★They are talking about shopping / clothes.
II. Presentation
1. Lead in the “mall”. Have the students listen to Dialogue One twice. Have them think why they need to go to the mall.
2. After listening, check their answers individually and write down their answers on the blackboard.
★sister — jacket — small — short
brother — new white shirt for school
mall — sale
3. Have the students read Dialogue One by themselves and check what they have got just now. Lead in words, such as sleeves, fit, DeMarco’s Clothing Store.
4. “Let’s go to the mall together with the family.” Listen to Dialogue Two and draw lines to show how they get to DeMarco’s Clothing Store.
5. Show the lines one step by one step on PPT and let the students have a basic understanding about telling the way.
III. Practice
1. Read and learn the names of the stores by themselves. Have some individuals check how many names they can read. Teach the names if they have trouble with.
2. Try by themselves to tell the brother how to get to Steve’s Sport Shop.
3. Give more tasks for them to practice in groups.

IV. Closure
Think and discuss the way from DeMarco’s Clothing Store to the post office.

Reflection:
This is a speaking lesson which mainly focused on telling the way. It’s the only focus in this lesson. No wonder that most of them caught up very well and had mastered how to tell the way correctly. But still there are some details need to be improved. As for the phrases, the teacher should use more TPRs to show directly. The teacher can give an example to walk first, and then have the students walk and say the sentences, or they can say the sentences and have a student walk the way. Walking is not limited on the map only. They can also walk in the classroom. It’s certain that they will have deeper impression if the teacher tries in this way.

卢大勇老师的上课内容是book 5 unit 4 Shopping part 2.可以说卢大勇老师的这堂课是一堂成功并且具有生命力的课。他的课重点突出,目标明确且流程清晰,在教与学方式的转变尤为突出,具体从以下几个方面来体现:
第一, 兴趣场。卢老师开篇设计的问题让学生很感兴趣,激发了学生的思维兴趣让学生有欲望去表达自己的想法。他通过描述图片的方式让学生来猜测图片中人物的对话,并且给出一定的提示去引导学生。
第二, 思维场。在本堂课中卢老师给了学生足够的时间去独立思考,并且又通过小组合作的方式让学生充分交流思想和表达观点。在前期的听力导入学习中,卢老师清晰的板书及重点词语的突显让学生对学习内容有了清晰的了解及掌握。
第三, 教与学方式的转变。卢老师的课在这一点上体现得尤为突出,他在教授店名时先让学生自学,再通过小组合作的方式共同学习。最后老师只对难词做点拨让学生再次学习,充分给予了学生独立思考和自主学习的时间。并且他通过给出各种路线任务让学生通过小组合作的方式来完成任务,在这个过程中他给予了学生足够的时间去共同学习新的词汇,并让学生学会利用这些词汇来完成给出的任务。
建议:在方向词语的教授中,建议卢老师能用更多的TPR来帮助学生理解和掌握。
