Teaching plan for the opening class in G8

Content—Unit 3 I’m more outgoing than my sister. (go for it)

Aim---1.as…as… 2. comparative adjectives

1. Show them a famous saying “A life without a friend is a life without a sun”.So friends are very important in our lives.

Q: What kinds of things are important in a friend?Ask students to have a group discussion and express their ideas. Then report their answers.

2. Show them my best friend’s photo and tell them about my friend. The story contains a lot of “as…as…” sentences. Write them down on the blackboard. Then ask students to observe the sentences and summarize the usage of as…as… sentence patterns.

3. Show them some different pictures for them to compare. Use the sentence pattern as…as…

4. Pair work

Ask students detailed information about their best friends (like height, weight, etc). Give them time to ask their friends and report their results.

5. Then compare the different points between me and my best friend using the comparative adjectives.

I am taller than her. She is cuter than me.

Write the mentioned comparative adjectives on the blackboard. Give students time to compare their classmates and themselves.

6. A guessing game. Show them lots of pictures in pairs. Ask them questions about the pictures like “which one is funnier””which river is longer”? Then write all the comparative adjectives on the blackboard and let students summarize the usage of comparative adjectives.

7. Make comparisons between Britain and America.
