Unit 5 The Five Senses Part 1
Teaching Objectives:
1. To review and identify parts of the body.
2. To identify the five senses.
3. To use the five senses to do things.
Teaching Key Points:

Teaching Difficult Points:
1. Pronounce the sense of “taste with tongue”.
2. To use the senses to talk in a passage about our daily things.
Teaching Procedures:
I. Warm up
1. Greeting
2. Sing a song--- “Head and Shoulders”
3. Review body parts.(Point and say)
II. Lead-in
1.When the revision comes to the body part “ears”. Then play the voice audio for the students to hear and tell “What do you hear?” after listening.
2.Ask the question “What do you hear with?” Invite students to answer in a whole sentence.
3.Go to the boy with no ears, eyes, nose, mouth and fingers and point to say “ Does this boy have ears?” Then invite students to answer “What do you do with your ears?” (Point and encourage students to read the sentence structures on board.)
III. Presentation & Practice
1.T: “What else are missing? What do you want to draw first?”(Which procedure is going first is depending on students’ decision.)
A.nose
1)Invite one student to draw and other students answer “ What do you do with your nose? We ______ with our nose.”
2)Have students smell the things in the bowl and guess what they are.
B. fingers
1)Invite one student to draw.
2)Have students discuss in groups about “ What do you do with your nose? We ______ with our nose.”
3)Hear students’ discussion result and write some on board.
4)Show the things we do on PPT and have students say together.
5)Let students use fingers to touch and feel. Then tell what are in the box.
C. tongue
1)Invite one student to draw and other students answer “ What do you do with your tongue? We ______ with our tongue.” ( Use phonics to learn “tongue” and “taste”. Ask students to practice the words in pairs. One say, one show the tongue. Or read two by two.)
2)Pair work to practice the dialogue.
3)Invite students to taste and tell what they taste.
2.T: “Now, what do you want to do next?” (Sn: I want to see/have a look.)
Invite students to draw eyes and then show the things in the box.
Discuss in groups about what else you do with the eyes.
Check.
3.Have students fill in the blanks with the best word they think is.
4.Read together.
IV. Application
1.Give one model first.
E.G. I see the orange juice with my eyes. It is orange.
I feel the orange juice with my fingers. It is cold.
I smell the orange juice with my nose. It smells delicious.
I taste the orange juice with my tongue. It's sweet.
Oh, I love it so much!
2.Encourage students to talk about “an apple” and “flowers”. (assign four groups to talk about “an apple”, five groups to talk about “flowers”)
3.Show time.
V. Ending
T: You did a good job. We can use the five things to do many things. Is it OK for me to take away your eyes/nose...?
S: ...
T: So we should “Protect our five senses!”
T: Thank you! Goodbye!

Reflection:
整堂课由两条主线贯穿:一是,一个没有画eyes,ears,nose,mouth和fingers的小男孩;二是,盒子里的两个橘子和一个苹果。很好的激发了学生的学习兴趣,课堂当中的presentation部分与nose,tongue和fingers有关的感官步骤由学生当场的说话决定,没有局限学生的思维,很好地拓展了学生的思维,激发了学生的交流欲望,所以整堂课学生都是在愉快的气氛中积极地去感知去学习。
课堂当中的fingers和eyes让学生在小组讨论What do you do with your fingers/eyes? We _______ with our _______.孩子们在交流的时候老师会走到小朋友中间去和孩子们交流,鼓励他们发动脑筋想出更多该感官可以做的事情,很好的激励了学生的英语思维。最后,孩子们的确也说出了很多让人刮目相看的句子,小组合作交流效果得到了很好的体现。课堂最后,让学生自己提炼一个他们认为可以描述这个感官的词,并且运用这五官去说一段话,让课堂的英语内涵更上一层楼。虽然在讨论a bag of flowers和an apple时,没有足够的时间了。但是总体来说我自己对这堂课还是很满意的。
但是,还有最后一部分的情感价值观Protect our five senses well.没能在课堂上体现出来感觉很遗憾。我想我可以在fingers讨论的那个时间段适当的缩短时间,更合理分配时间。另外,在当学生闻尝等之后应该乘胜追问How does it taste? It tastes ....使概念具体化,使语言更有内涵。
